VECHTDAL COLLEGE, HARDENBERG
PROFILE.
The Vechtdal College has three locations in eastern Holland near Germany. In Hardenberg is the main location (about 2.500 pupils in the age of 12-18 years). On the two other locations in a distance of about 15 km are 1.000 students. There’re approximately 300 teachers and employees at the Vechtdal College. The Vechtdal College has a Christian identity.
The pupils of Vechtdal College are divided into the various education streams offered at Maasland, namely preparatory vocational education (VMBO), higher general continued education (HAVO) and preparatory scientific education (VWO and Gymnasium). We also have a VWOXtra-stream. VWOXtra is also known as Atheneum-plus, Vwo+ or Lyceum, offers extra subjects like philosophy, extra foreign languages and courses to introduce students to scientific research. They can choose an internationalization, art and culture, science or society profile.
Our headmaster is ir. Eddy Muis. He is the headmaster since 2006. He is President of the college. He gives control to the management of our school.
The teachers in Hardenberg are divided in teams. For every team there’s a team leader. We (teachers of a team) give education in our own part of the school. We call that our ‘thuishaven’. We try to create small schools within the school. We hope that our pupils will feel better and saver. MISSION STATEMENT.
The Vechtdal College has a Christian Identity. We’re inspired by the bible. We also want the pupils to feel save. We care for our pupils. We’re active and we encourage pupils to be active. We want to be stimulating and inspiring. And we want our pupils to learn to be responsible today and in their future. For our VWOXtra stream we want to set up more international activities. We participated (and still do participate) in Comenius projects. We would like for our students to undertake more international activities. Not only to learn the language, but also learn about culture, environment, etc. VISITING TEACHERS.
Ingrid de Ruiter. Teacher geography and coordinator VWOXtra. I’m 37 years old. I’m married and we have 3 kids. I live in Hardenberg. It’s a very nice environment to live.
Willem Ouwinga. Teacher economics. I am 41 years old, married and 3 kids. I also live in Hardenberg. We are looking forward to go to India. We have never been in India. We hope to learn a lot about the education, culture, development and environment of India. We have read a lot about Mumbai. We think it will be an experience we won’t forget. We hope that this project leads to intensive and stimulating contacts between schools in India and our school. It would be great if pupils can visit schools in Mumbai (and pupils from Mumbai can visit our school) and this project will lead to an intensive contact between schools. LINK:
